It also is a very interesting piece of reflexion on politics, drugs, parenting /5(K). Hillbilly Elegy is first and foremost a memoir, but it also examines the Appalachian working class at large, often incorporating sociological studies to supplement Vance’s life story and proposing possible new ways of thinking about poverty.
